Great Books Discussion Group

Sunday, April 28th, 1:00 – 3:00pm at Café Ventana (West Pine and Vandeventer)

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” “So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old:  and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.”

So begins and ends the April Great Books selection:  Genesis from the Hebrew Scriptures.  Come explore everything that happens in-between in this seminal work of mythology that describes the awakening and definition of a people.

Alienated Labour by Karl Marx.  Marx defines alienation as the separation of things which should be together and the animosity that arises between these things.  This work is a study of alienation of the worker  (labour) to a capitalistic system.   Come explore the thoughts that had a profound effect on the 20th Century with facilitators Margaret Weck and Mike Nolan.
