Cooked:  Survival by Zip Code - Film and Discussion
July 14th -- 11:30 -- Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall

Join members of Toward Justice July 14 after services for a screening of the award-winning documentary: Cooked; Survival by Zip Code. Through an investigation of  the deadly 1995 Chicago heat wave, the film exposes the deeper, more pervasive issue of the politics of "natural" disasters, revealing the ways in which class, race, and zip code predetermine who was living on the edge to start with, who gets hurt the worst, who recovers and bounces back—and who doesn't.

We will screen the movie in the sanctuary at 11:30, followed by discussion in Fellowship Hall. A simple lunch will be provided.
There will also be a Zoom option. Please RSVP HERE so that we can send the Zoom link and plan for lunch.
This event will be free but donations will be accepted.
