Welcome to First Unitarian Church.
We hope you enjoy your visit with us today and will want to return often. If you are in search of a church home, we encourage you to take the time to become acquainted with the many services, activities, and the vital people of our congregation. We will never pressure you to join the church, but if that is your choice after getting to know us, we will be pleased to welcome you into membership.
Ours is a free faith. Members of the congregation have committed themselves to a never-ending quest, rather than to any dogma or common set of beliefs about the ineffable mysteries of existence. The two great principles of our faith are freedom and toleranceindividual freedom of belief, and respect for the beliefs of those who differ from us. We take this religion so seriously that no church in our denomination, anywhere in the world, may say to a prospective member, "This you must believe."
As a result, you will find a wide diversity of thought, feeling, interest, and concern here. You may even find yourself wondering how, with such differences, we remain bound together. Our answer was made over four hundred years ago by one of the first Unitarians, Francis David. He said, "You need not think alike to love alike."
Here you will find a place where you will be welcomed and included regardless of your race, gender, affectional orientation, age, or family status.
